Life is good!

Yesterday, Wednesday, was my last day at work for this week so I have five glorious days off in a row!!  

Oh yeah life is good.

Yesterday was Airport day for me and I used my own car as the boss is away and the idea of driving the work van or truck didn't excite me.  I packed my camera in my car because there were things I wanted to get photos of, and taking them from a sign written car could look dodgy! 

This beautiful boy has been in a paddock with NO TREES or company since the beginning of the year.  Someone else must have been concerned like me as I read an article in our local paper involving the SPCA, apparently his needs are being met. REALLY?? I am pleased to say he has companions, and I think they are ladies, and one is looking rather pregnant!!  Anyway isn't he a sweetie, standing in the rain posing for me as I leaned out my car window. Bless him.

Of course our International Airport is surrounded by farmland so it is only right that the planes fly over grazing cows to the tarmac.  Brilliant timing for me I thought!!  Hamilton Airport is small but it serves the purpose and it is in a pretty scenic part of the Tron.

All of this made me happy.

I also snuck into a church op shop while I was out

on work time

tsk tsk!

I love this shop, good old fashioned stuff at good old fashioned prices like 50cents each for the dishes, doily and basket, $1 each for the smelly things that you hang in your wardrobe, and $4 for the knitted skirt with pleated hem.  With this stashed in the back seat of my car I toddled on back to work. Job done!

TOF IS HOME!!

Yes indeed

he arrived home yesterday afternoon.

So him, me and the lads

went out for dinner!

This morning we stayed in bed until 9:00am with hot drinks and the morning newspapers because we could.  The pets joined in on the 'welcome home TOF morning' and then we got up and got on with the day. Forgot to mention that TOF has taken the next couple of days off work so won't be going back until Monday, but the out of town job is FINISHED!! Finally.

We spent the morning out doing chores like grocery shopping and trying to get a warrant on Jaks old car that he is now in the process of selling to his brother Max.  Our mechanic thinks its funny that this car is doing the rounds of our family, it was ours first!

I went out this afternoon to post some things I SOLD on trade me, yes SOLD not bought.  Then I popped in on the SPCA op shop and found a doozie book.

We all know this story!

Sunday was a stay at home kinda day

but I still got productive.

...they're in the middle of being made into a coat!!

Of course I had assistance every step of the way.

Why do pets like to lie on your projects?

I am hoping to top stitch and embellish and be wearing it

by next week, so stay tuned.

I worked Monday as it is accounts time,  and tidy some bits up around the office.  So I am sort of normal this week, well for a few days.  At this rate I will be able to finish for the week tomorrow which means I get a 5 day weekend, yes 5 days in a row!!  Woohoo.  And TOF will be home, life is good.

Monday night I accompanied Jak to Waihi to seal the deal financially on the car he purchased on the weekend. It is a long story but lets just say the OLD couple were very trusting people and all went well.

We stopped for petrol once at Waihi and Jak grabbed us a bag of Pineapple lumps to tie us over until we could get some dinner.  We didn't leave Hamilton until 6:30pm so we were HUNGRY!!

We had one last play with all that lovely jubbly cash before he handed it over.  It smelled really good, it smelled like FUN!!

I got pretty bored waiting in the car

so I made myself some Pineapple Lump teeth

and did a selfie!

Coz that's what you do.

Ok, not everyone would do that,

We dined on a feed of dirty old Kentucky Fried Chicken, most of mine ended up out the car window for animals to eat or homeless folk.  I was worried about Jak venturing off and buying a car by himself but I have to say it is a very nice car, and he is quite a good driver, so it was a relaxing trip for me as a passenger.

Day of work and then a very successful session

The most gorgeous Swan basket $3, Trelise Cooper Bangle $2, sparkly old purse, $5 and the best ever basket $3, yes I lied, my basket collection is not complete. 

I have wanted a bucket bag for ever, probably since my friend Leonie had one years ago and I silently admired it.  Well today I found this brand new one $8. Swimming with the Sharks shoes $8, Bali statues $1 each, bathroom stuff set for $8, and the book was $2.  Dick Frizzell is a famous Kiwi artist and the book is illustrated by him.

So what have you all been getting up to???

In my next life I'm gonna be a farmer.

This afternoon I went to visit Sue as she was home alone like me.  The drive out to her place is so lovely and today I took my time stopping to take photos every now and again, just like a pesky tourist!

Even though the weather was dull and overcast the countryside was looking marvelous.   I love everything in the farmlands, rolling hills, farm fences, rickety barns, lines of tall trees, bee hives, and the odd bit of informative signage.  Lucky I didn't pack a gun.

Sue was baby sitting her grand-puppy Astrix, he is full on energy and mischief just like a toddler.  We decided to walk to the neighbours place for a visit, her neighbour is my Insurance lady and such a nice person.  We chatted as you do and then we wandered up to a barn to check out the baby calves.

These calves are only a few days old and seriously cute.  They sucked our fingers and jumped about being silly.  Pretty sure the farm is over 200 acres, decent sized bit of dirt. I so could have snuck a calf home with me, plenty to chose from and I am sure it would be happy in the back garden here.

Spring flowers are springing up everywhere and down the road there were lots of lambs.  I love Spring, all the new growth and animals babies everywhere. My favourite flowers are the Spring ones. Except it really isn't Spring yet, it apparently is still Winter.  Some how we missed the email on seasons because it hasn't been very Wintery at all.  Mild as, in our neck of the woods, and I am not complaining.  If it isn't raining, then to me it is a good day!!

On my way home I had to stop and wait for a bunch of girls that were heading back from being milked.  They totally took their time and seriously checked me out, even stopped to look at me looking at them.  The calves in the paddock were probably trying to spot their mums.  "mum over here, I'm over here!!"

I think I could enjoy living on a farm, so in my next life I want to be a farmer and live in a big red barn like this, and TOF can come to, he is pretty handy, and likes animals.  The animals can live in the bottom at night and I will live above them.  Obviously I won't be a serious big time farmer more of a small scale self sufficient type.  Lucky dreams are free because mine would cost a fortune if I had to pay for them all.

I cannot wait for TOF to be back home for good so normal eating will resume.  Most nights it is dinner for one as Jak is always out and about as a lad of his age should be.  Speaking of him, he made a purchase today that I was a little worried about, no need, he had it totally sussed.

Yes, a car, a grey one, a station wagon even, and my knowledge is now exhausted right there.  Apparently the previous owners were an OLD couple, I asked how old, and got told, you and dads age. THANKS!!  You can go off your kids in a matter of seconds. Our place has a slight resemblance to a used car yard at the moment, but rumour has it, older brother will be purchasing his old car once some things have been fixed on it.  Anyway he isn't driving the new one until we can get insurance sorted on it on Monday, lucky I have a lovely Insurance lady, and plenty of other cars for him to drive in the mean time!!

Instant colour, I don't want to wait, I want it now!!

Today was sort of inside out,

and back to front for me.

I had my breakfast in bed and then nodded off for what seemed like only a few minutes and next thing it was nearly 10am. Oh the life of a part time worker!!!!  So I flew out of bed, threw on some clothes, hung out my washing, sorted a few things that needed sorting, then I went out.  My mission today was to get a big pot to re plant a big yucca that was living in a broken pot.  In a trolley I had a big plastic colourful pot, two bags of tub mix, 5 pots of instant colour, and a punnet of 6 large pansies.  Just as I was walking out of the shop (The Warehouse) I found the cutest coat for my sisters poodle Febe, baby pink with white spots, reduced to $2.75.  Then I found dog collars down from $15 to .97cents each, dog toys on sale and other pet related stuff on massive sale!!

No time to do my potting as I had to go out to Dawns, we were taking some of her new Totem poles to The Garden Art Studio.

 It is always good to see her things on display.

 We had a pot of tea for Two and a little something nice to eat.

Coming home from Dawns I stopped to take a photo of this magical gate to someones house.  I drive past it every week when I am off to do my airport job I think how much I would like to have a closer look at it.  So today I stopped and had a nosy posy and took these photos.

My Yucca in the green pot is growing much better now it has a bigger pot.

I bought the two little pottery Angels from the Studio today as well, they look so sweet in the blue pot.  Dawn said we can make them, which we can but I wanted them NOW like my colour in my garden.

I took these photos last night while I was trying to read in bed.  All three of them think they need to sleep with me and all three seem to think they need to be on my side of the bed.  I read until 1:30 in the morning, yes my book is good, and it is beating watching TV hands down at the moment.
