No Doom but a little bit of Gloom.

Have you ever wondered

how the sky sees things when it is

looking down on us?

Yeah probably not, 

just me then?

Yesterday was slightly gloomy and the sky in all it's gloom got to cop a look at these flowers in my garden.  

Bet the sky felt less gloomy.

When the flowers looked up tho'....

...they saw that gloomy sky looking down on them, but they weren't worried, they just kept on being all bright and cheerful. 

Go the flowers!!

So I double flipped the gloomy sky

The girls were waiting for me when I got home from work yesterday.  When I fed them I found that Oprah had laid a little egg, all efforts are appreciated and she was making a song and a dance out of plopping out her little egg. How lovely do the eggs look on Autumn leaves?

It rained last night and it was still raining this morning,

more gloom you could say.

Well then,

there was only one thing to bust another

I wore big bright flowers.

 

Me and Sue W stopped in at all our favourite shops and had a second visit to the new huge Hospice store.  I quite like this shop, beautifully set up and almost more like an antique/second hand dealer type of shop  I remember from years back. Back when there was plenty of excellent second hand shops full of reasonably priced things. Pretty sure this will make it on to our permanent list of places to pop in to.

 

We had a divine lunch at the lovely cafe called Lola in between our shopping.  Thanks Sue, it was very, very nice of you to take me out for lunch.

 

The absolutely fabulously bright crocheted blanket is brand new and only $15, so of course that came home with me.  Like wise the three necklaces ranging in price from $2.50 - $4.

Inside this gorgeous big needlepoint bag was the small bag and the purse, like a Russian doll, all for $10.

But my best buy had to be this china PIG that is the same size as my Oscar for $8.  Sue did say make sure you keep it away from Sheba.  Within minutes of it being bought inside Sheba who was in Turbo speed to get out the door bowled over the pig and broke both right legs. FAAAARK!! Biatch dog, Bert is going to have to live in a safe spot.  Luckily I had some Super Glue and all is well with Bert, named after Sue Ws pig Bert that she used to have.

 

With Mothers Day being a happening thing in our part of the world this weekend there are all sorts of special deals on in the shops.  While we were in Bunnings (man store) so Sue could get some wall paper paste I came across this pot and found a plant to go in it.  Tis destined for the reception counter at work.

Filling in time as time needed to be filled

Today I had an appointment around 2ish and had some time on hand in between work and going to it so I grabbed myself some Sushi and went to the Lake.  After devouring the contents in my Sushi container I went for a little wander as I still had plenty of time.

Another mild Autumn day and plenty of other people were taking advantage of this picturesque spot.

Why wouldn't you just fill in time wandering the boardwalks and paths around the edge of the central city Lake.

Gorgeous strong tall native trees reach for the sky.

Duck Shooting Season began on the 1st of May so there has been an influx of visitors that are now safely holidaying at the Lake.

Wake us up in June would you.

Our Hospital is very near the Lake

and some of the rooms have amazing views.

When I was a teenager my friends and I would go to the Lake in Summer on the weekends as local bands would put on free concerts.  They were on the grassy bank below the water tower you catch a glimpse of in this photo behind the trees.

Wooden bench seat are in strategic positions

so you get peaceful views while resting.

There are some lovely homes nestled on the edge of the Lake, not sure that I would like to live there with so many people walking past and having a peek, like me into their gardens.

Can you see the big white house in the top right corner of this picture?  Pretty sure my sisters and I visited there with our grandparents when we were small.  Some relatives of ours used to live there.  One of the original homes that thankfully still stands.

I wonder if this little dingy ever gets used,

I remember it being moored here last year amongst the reeds.

The Lake like the Waikato River are true jewels in the crown of Hamilton, both beautiful tranquil spots to fill in some time when you have some time to fill.

I was only here for about half an hour

but left feeling

relaxed and recharged.

Yesterday I spent the morning out with Sue W and our good friend Kerry.  Kerry wanted to take me out for lunch as a thank you for taking some family photos for her.  The three of us set of at about 10am visiting a few op shops before lunch.

In Habitat I got these two little crocheted doilies, they are going to end up on my Blanket coat that I started making last winter.  Hopefully I will be inspired to finish it off very soon, well at least before Winter arrives!

Hospice in town didn't have much to tempt me into parting with any cash apart from this necklace.  The discs sit flat and the silver ones are like pewter so nice and dull with the blueish shell like discs.

We visited the newly opened Hospice shop in Frankton, and were impressed to say the least.  This shop is well stocked with very nice things that are beautifully displayed,  slightly more pricey but totally worth it.  There was absolutely no way these gorgeous cotton sheets at $5 each were going to be left behind.

I also purchased this scrum-diddle-umpish Annah S skirt which had me somewhat confused on how you actually wore it until one of the ladies working there solved the problem for me.

You step in side it behind the divine piece of lace detail and then tie it front or back.  I think I may need to model it, just have to decide what I will wear with it first.  I don't have anything in this colour.

This fabulous long string of old crystal beads  I found in Vinnies, I do like things that sparkle!

We had lunch at Agora Cafe in Frankton which has the most amazing selection of delectable food.  I had a Chicken, Peach and Brie Frittata and believe me it was YUM!  I cannot believe I did not take any photos of us gals out together or lunch, must have been too busy chatting and shopping.

Before I go....

I saw one of the funniest things ever today.  I was driving down Lake road heading back to work when heading up the road a small black pig was running as fast as it could in the middle of the lane.  It had a line of traffic behind it to.  Probably escaped from the Frankton Sales yard.  Poor little pig, I do hope it is alright and made its way home and not to the market!!! 

Two kinds of Autumn.

Autumn weather is relatively pleasant, I quite like it.  Not too much of anything, as in not too cold and not too hot.  The weekend was very nice, no rain for starters!!

My sweet little Bantam called Autumn is quite the Houdini.  She refuses to be penned up, contained in the designated Chicken enclosure.  I watch her every morning balancing on top of the fences like a well trained gymnast and marvel at her dismount into the garden, scoring her a perfect ten most days.  She also likes to announce the fact that she has indeed escaped almost laughing in her cluck at the other girls she has left behind, "later suckers".  Bantams are such amusing chickens with distinct personalities.

On the weekend I like to let the girls out for a scratch in the back garden, and I am pleased to say the new girls have settled in well.

Autumn colour.

Saturday I went to watch a game of rugby.  Two of the heirs friends were playing but in opposing teams.  Number 13 in the left photo is Brownie and Number 16 in the right photo is Sue Ws son.  It was a great game, very enjoyable.

The heir turned up to watch the second half (on the right).  Brown had hurt his back and that is a ciggie not a booger!!

TOF went fishing again and had another successful time, needless to say we dined on fresh snapper last night and will do so again tonight.  Fresh fish takes a bit of beating.

Sunday afternoon we took a drive out to Raglan to catch up with friends that have been overseas.  Of course we had to go check out the beach first.  Manu Bay looked lovely, loads of guys were out surfing and quite a few boats were out taking advantage of the good weather.

This Sea-gull feasted on some of my filled roll, it was like going, going, gone!

The next bay along is Whale Bay and it to was busy with surfers enjoying the waves, like wise with Indicators which is the next bay along.  I have said it before but I will say it again, Raglan and the wild west coast is beautiful. Breath taking actually and it is always good to breath in that fresh sea air that is always on offer.

I would love to grow these in my garden, they always look magnificent in the wind, like horses tails.  I think we are incredibly lucky to live so close to the beach, one day we may even move out there to live.
