So I told you a lie

I said I would dive into my unspare room and look for the slide converter thingy today, but I got

SIDE TRACKED!!!

Well I got dressed and far to nicely to hang at home sorting out my unspare room, so off out I went.  My intentions were good, I was going to an Antique shop and when I scored a park right out side the door I thought I was doing good!!  Unfortunately for me it was bloody well closed today due to a family event. How inconvenient for me.  So I loaded up the parking meter with coins and walked back down the road to the Salvo.  Ooooooooo it was good!!

Best score was my basket for $1, yep only a dollar!!  The Tony Sly plates were $1 each,  and the book was $2, pretty stoked with my little $5 spend.  Oh look I can add, four years of secondary education wasn't a complete waste of time was it now.  Now the shrug cardy with crocheted edges was $5 from the Hospice. When I got home I remembered some other stuff I forgot to share with you from the other day.  This little lot was still hiding in my car.

Fabulous brand new embroidered bag was $6 from Save Mart.  The tea bag box I paid $2 for and have stashed my herbal and green tea in it, think I might paint it one day.  The Peruvian biblical thing you put a tea light candle in was $3 and the wire cage was $2, I am going to put dried lavender heads in that and put it in my car.  I cannot remember where I got those two things from, but the $2 scarf came from look smart.  And I still had enough money to buy two boxes of beer, serviettes, disposable plates, knives and forks for the party from my cash stash.

I am picking quite a lot every day and freezing them. I will be making Jam with some and a guy at TOFs work wants to make wine, I am sure we will have more than enough for both projects and then some.

My dogs joined me in the garden for the photo shoot.

I got a parcel in the post today, a little something I had bought off Trade Me. 

So the blue petticoat skirt was what I bought but the lovely trader added a card and heart soap to the parcel and a bag of lollies inside.  How sweet was that?

I am now plan to give the unspare room some much needed love and attention over the weekend.

Are photos memories or are memories photos?

I have been trawling through old photos of late for the pending big day in my eldest sons life, turning 21.  Apart from the day he was born what else is there?  Plenty I suspect but I came across some of my old photos.

This would have been in the late 60's, more than likely heading off to church, as that is what you did on a Sunday back then.  All of us girls wearing dresses made by mum.  That to was what you did back then, made your children's clothes.  My beef with homemade dresses was that I had to wear my two older sisters frocks after mine no longer fitted, I had plenty believe me.

Sitting on the hand rail off the deck at our beach house with Dad and Grandpa watching over us, not OSH or any health and safety officer.  We were allowed to take risks like this. Risk?? We were a generation that was allowed to take risks daily and we survived!!  No cotton wool for us.  I think we had the freedom years for sure.

Check out our toweling ponchos!!  Home made with matching beach bags if my memory serves me correctly.  Oh and look at the sun glasses on my mum, we back then thought they were hideous, what did we know.  Grandma was rocking the wide brimmed sun hat and dad was very cool. 

I have books full of memories/photos, and all my dads slides which are even older.  Somewhere in my unspare room I have a gadget to plug into my laptop that allows me to make the slides into photos.  Maybe I should dive into that room tomorrow.

Well I'm not learning to fly a plane!

that could have been interesting to say the least,

because I am not that keen on driving really.

And I'm not training to be an air hostess!

That's incredibly lucky for passengers.

But with my new job that I started yesterday, I go the the airport once a week for a secret mission, a drug deal, a??? Ok I cannot tell a lie or even make up something remotely interesting.  I restock pamphlets on New Zealand and things to do in the Waikato, touristy stuff.  Wipe a few monitors down, probably have a good look around the place and then beetle on back to work.  But it is a pleasant drive in the countryside for a few minutes.

Oh and the new job is lovely.  Sole charge two mornings a week with a nice little walk to the post office that has 3 op shops right near by, and my own little reception area.  It is all rather comfy and lovely, I will pimp it when I have been there a few more times.  It really does need the Sue Touch!!  The blokes are all very nice, good senses of humour, a must, and pretty laid back bunch.  I think I will be happy.  This is only for a year while the other lady is on maternity leave.  Sweet, ,might be ready for another move by then, who knows.

How fabulous was the night sky the other night at my places.  Started all bluish and next thing with the sun setting it went all pink and purple, which just proves the sun is female!!

No shopping to report as my op shop money is going to be buying BEER and stuff for the next few weeks for the BIG 21st!! 

Don't work too hard now while I put my feet up for FIVE days in a row!!!

then get FIVE DAYS

Where did all the years go?

My eldest son is turning 21 next month!

 Going through a gazillion old photo albums I wonder where my darling little boy has gone to.

 When did he grow into a nose picking,

toasted sandwich making,

beer drinking,

TEENAGER!!

One minute I am caring for this beautiful little baby,

now I get to occasionally wrap my arms around

this gorgeous young man!

So I am in the throws of planning his birthday party.  Starting with old photos, and my god did I get some laughs and a lot of good memories from them all.  He needs to lock in a date for us and give us a rough idea on how many are coming as we are going to have it at home in "THE GARDEN".  I have a month.

Speaking of my garden, this trifecta of sparrows were weighing up their options on the bird bath facilities this morning.

I am quite sure my son will do both of these.

I hope I have done a good job!!

The weekend is all but over.

But now that I have Mondays not working it will be like double study on Monday morning when I was at High School.  What doesn't get done on the weekend by rights can now happen on Monday!!  Yeah I will get back to you on that one!

So the bird feeder I got yesterday I hung in one of my big trees, then I remembered another wooden one I had so that got hung on the fence this morning.  Filled with wild seed I live in hope of my feathered friends discovering them both.

Also yesterday afternoon TOF and I (well mainly TOF) constructed a gazebo I had stashed to go in his vege garden.  It sits over his tomatoes and other things that are getting nibbled on by birds and butterflies, so with some netting draped over it this hopefully will solve this problem.  Oh the hammer was my dads, his old Eswing.

I am picking blackberries every day at the moment as they seem to be ripening every time I turn my back!!  So it is a pick and freeze gig with the berries.  We are enjoying the taste of our own tomatoes at the moment, much better than supermarket ones, so much flavour and juicy.

 And Tex continued to sleep!!

This morning I awoke to SUNSHINE!!!!  TOF had gone into work for the day and the son was still out from the night before.  BLISS!!  So I went back to bed, I broke my routine and rules and after feeding the fluffies, I hit the hay. Finally got up at 8:30am!!!  Breakfast outside was lovely, soaking up the morning sun and the sounds of a summer morning.

Oscar made good use all day of the Turtle bowl.

It has been a hottie here in the Tron!!

I went to a friends garage sale and found another fabulous plant stand. 

Then I got comfortable outside on my garden swing with a few essentials.

(Unfortunately I was so comfortable that I fell asleep! )

I opened the gate to the chicken coup and some of the girls ventured out.

Ages ago some friends of ours pulled down some fences and were going to dump them, but I put my hand high up in the air and they ended up at our place. I have put them where I want them to go now so TOF has a wee chore of securing them into place for me.  I think my hedge will stand a better chance of growing into a real hedge with the protection of a fence. The corner one is to stop Oscar making his way into the chicken area.

Heat clouds have gathered, so I have bought in all my washing and retreated indoors to the coolness of the lounge.  

Thank you mother nature for a fabulous day but you can leak a bit of rain this evening if you desire!!

 

My morning routine has been interrupted by the weather

I get up at 6am (yes 6am) every morning.  I feed the animals (because Tex wakes me up by patting my face with his paw, he is starving!), make a hot earl grey for me, a coffee for TOF which I deliver back to him in bed, then I retrieve my morning paper and sit in the comfort of my old lazy boy chair and have an uninterrupted read.  I love this time of the morning because it is quiet and relaxing.  

But NOT this morning!! 

The fucktard that delivers my morning paper is incredibly lazy and obviously just threw it out the delivery vehicle window where it landed on my very wet driveway as it rained all night.  Even though it is in a sealed plastic bag it is not water proof!!  Seven hours later my paper is still sopping wet and unreadable.  It was much better when school kids on push bikes delivered the paper and placed it in the letterbox where it stayed dry.  My morning was out of sink after that.  

But I recovered and went out to collect a couple of purchases I had won off Trade Me.

One very cool plant stand ($20) for my deck and an old music suit case ($5) complete with old workbooks and music.  The plant stand has plants on it now and the case has numerous options for me.  While out I popped into an op shop and then Bin Inn where I got a Pig Ear each for the dogs, a bird feeder and wild seed mix to hang in the garden and a seed bell for George, my canary.

The dogs made short work of the pig ears.

Tex slept through everything.

And TOF baked his world famous cookies.

The weather is crap today, wet (off and on) and incredibly muggy so I guess I shall have to just find a good spot indoors to read the books Mrs Webber has loaned me.  Hopefully my morning paper will be dry enough to read by the evening, turning it into an evening paper and not a morning paper!!

And that is all I got!!

I picked up my lovely friend Rose just after 9am and off we ventured on a ticky tour of the op shops Hamilton has on offer.  It was such fun being out with someone who doesn't go to op shops and seeing what she managed to find.  And find Rose did!!  From memory, three dresses, a pair of shoes, a pair or 3/4 trousers, couple of tops, scarf, and a book, and spent under $40.  My friend has a lovely little size ten body so there was plenty of gorgeous things on offer for her.

I almost felt I should try to loose weight.

ALMOST!! 

Seems far to hard a job for someone who isn't particularly interested in regular exercise and monitoring her daily intake of food.

I like achievable goals!!

So 

I have decided to embrace my shape and be happy!!

I had grand plans to take a photo of every place we went to but my age and blondness kicked in and I forgot.  After ten op shops and a delightful lunch we were all done and dusted by 2pm.  Not a bad effort!

The weekend is now knocking on my door and the sky is decidedly glum, I say just get on with it and RAIN why don't you.
