I have had a sore tooth for a few weeks now but last Friday a whole lot of filling came out of it and I spent the entire weekend with raging toothache. Trust me I was taking pain relief on a regular basis all weekend. Today I bit the bullet so to speak and went to my Dentist for an evaluation. Where they evaluated how much money they could extract from me. Turns out they want to do a ROOT CANAL and it turns out I am going to have an EXTRACTION! $200 versus $1100, no brainer for me!
So next week this will be me!
I have a course of antibiotics to take and my pain relief until then, I may rattle when I walk with all the pills jumping around inside me. Just hope they stop the pain.
Anyway, enough of that,
yesterday we did indeed drive out to Raglan,
in the rain,
in the Man Car!!
The West Coast was wet and wild for sure, but not that cold. I don't mind what the weather is at the beach, it always looks beautiful, so natural and strangely relaxing. Our country is pure GOLD when it comes to fabulous scenery.
This is the road heading to a car park!!
No one was brave enough to take advantage of the outdoor seating
with the best views in the house.
People were out walking on the beach
but no one was surfing.
A stormy looking Manu Bay.
The rain kept falling
and
the wind kept blowing!
This little dude brightened up a some what dull day.
We stopped in at a cafe for a hot drink and some cake, which we enjoyed in the warmth of the Man car while parked in our favourite Street, Cliff Street, which is on the edge of the harbor.
The drive home was a wet one!
Somehow everything still looked awesome, slightly magical with the hazy rain and mist. Cows huddled together to keep warm I guess, either that or they were having an important meeting at the fence.
Back home Tex helped TOF read the paper.
Wonder how much I will get for my
manky old tooth?
$200 would be nice.

Poor you, Sue! Facing a dental procedure ranks high on my list of Activities To Be Avoided. Please take the antibiotic protocol religiously, along with ALL the blessed pain pills.
What a landscape of Sturm und Drang! Trust you, Sue, to spot the bit of cheerful domestic color atop a post. The Maori figure seemed to be thinking deep thoughts indeed.
Ouch, poor you! Can't believe how expensive a root canal is in NZ. We moan at paying £50!
Hope you feel better soon (and the weather perks up!) xxx
If the tooth isn't visible, I'd have it yanked out too.
Our tooth fairy is a drunk-she flings money all over the room, drops her schedule and notes, and then the next day, there's a noticeable dip in my bottles of put-up cordials. She seems to favour blackberry.
Better lock up the booze before placing the tooth under your pillow!
Hope you're feeling better soon.
Oh Sue, I do hope your toothache is soon gone, yes I think I would've gone with the extraction too going by the prices. I always think you need to take out a small mortgage sometimes to go to the Dentist. Hope your soon feeling lots better :-)
Ohhhhh. Tooth stuff just makes me want to plotz!
Yikes hang in there, not so nice.
I swear toothache is as painful as being in labour, it made me cry (not even childbirth did that) you poor thing, the antibiotics will sort the pain out, nothing will take away the pain of $200 though! how much?? what a shocker! Manu Bay is gorgeous btw x x x
Ooh, toothache (and the ensuing dental work) is shitty - poor you!
Look at that fabulous stormy sea, love it.
Good of Tex to be so helpful... cats are like that! xxx
Oh no ... I hate all things dental ... and the costs ... phew!!
Hope it all goes ok ... ask for the sedation ... I had 4 wisdom teeth out in the chair with sedation. I never knew a thing about it ;0)
xx
Sorry to hear about all your tooth trouble. My wife is having a root canal done next week so I feel sorry for her already. It must be a painful thing to endure. But I wish you a speedy recovery and all the best for the future. I really enjoy reading your posts keep up the great work. Thank you.

I recently had a tooth pulled and something really odd happened. The open hole would not heal or clot. In fact, this long puss filled clot was hanging from the hole in my mouth and still bleeding. The dentist told me I had a rare disease that caused this and he pulled the clot away and stuck gauze in there to heal it.

The next time that you need any work done at the dentist you might want to call before you arrive. We found out that with the Affordable Care act that many of the procedures we used to get done for free are now being charged. Even simple fluoride treatments are fifty bucks when they used to be included with cleanings.
