My favourite day and in the Sun!! Last week.

Now if this confuses you well this was last week before my computer spat its dummy, so may as wee share it.

Yes my favourite day of the week was yesterday, SuesDay!!!  Got myself a little glammed up with a bit of purple eye liner and some blingage around my neck.  My  eyes are shot to hell today from the eye liner so it will be going in the bin.  I look like I have been hanging off the bong all morning with seriously blood shot eyes.  Apart from that I am tickety-boo!!!  Haven't worn this necklace before and I have had it for an age.  Waiting for a glamorous moment to wear it I guess.  Bugger it I thought, it has to be worn so it was and I might say I got alot of compliments for my seriously OTT necklace!!  All big pearls and diamontes!!  Bling Bling!!

On my bottom half I wore this HOT pink 3/4 tights and flat blacks.  So I was going for a purple, pink and black look.

The funniest thing is that when Sue arrived she was wearing ..... HOT PINK!!!!

We did her weigh in thingy then started on our expedition of shopping.  First port of call was the Salvo in the main street.

So here is the banana eating Hot Pink wearing meter maid!!!

Normally I like to park right by the Aggies so she has to get out of the car into the garden!!  This time it was like a where is Wally moment finding the bloody parking meter.  And if you don't put money into this cash gobbling City Council rip off things you end up with a ticket.  Meters in the main street are a total rip off, but cheaper than an infringement notice!!  Anyway enough of that, it was time to shop.

It really wasn't my day, but the other Sue was on a roll.  She successfully filled up the back of my station wagon with bits of furniture and bags of goodies.  I did find a god awful top with this label in it that required photographing!!  I was having one of those days where I picked things up and then umed and ared and decided not to get them.

I did however find this sweet old biscuit sized tin that I have since put all my reels of cotton in that I scored the other day.  That was at Habitat and only $1.  I was hoping that more plants would be in as I am on a bit of a gardening mission at the moment.  My parcel of seeds arrived in the mail the other day, round carrots, radishes, Zinnias, Sweet Peas, Poppies, and Alfalfa.

The big jar I got for my Alfalfa to grow in.  I even goggled how to grow it due to being a novice in this department.  TOF is the gardener round here!!  But I have my garden boxes to grow whatever my heart desires in this year so look out!!  I have been planting things in them already and I am getting quite excited.  I also found a good size seed tray, slapped some seed raising mix in and sewed some seeds.  At the moment I have wire covers on my garden boxes to stop the chickens eating everything and Tex using them as a potty.

it's all gone to custard

So far this week has been 'crap'. My desk top computer has shit its self and is not looking like a quick fix or cheap. Then on monday TOF got fired from his job. Long story but the shortened version is he said something they took offence to so fired him on the grounds of so called serious misconduct. Having an opinion is not cool. So after 20 years on the job its see you later. Over the years they have been bought and sold, shuffled and moved but the last 3 years he has hated working there. But maybe this is how he will find something better. Food parcels are welcome!   No seriously we will be fine, things always work out in the end and I will not resort to prostitution!!!
On a positive note tho' I built myself a salad garden from broken concrete. TOF and I went and got some soil and added compost he makes and chook poo from my girls.  I am growing things from seeds but also bought a few plants like fennel, italian parsley and some other bits.
Anyway thisblog post is being done on my tablet and proving quite slow so I will love you all and leave.  Thank goodness its wednesday tomorrow and you all know what that means. SuesDay!!!!!

Bye

Hey hey it's Saturday!!!

Happy 17th Birthday to my youngest Jak today.  Where did all those years go???  I have put this picture on his face book page (with his permission) and suggested he keeps his clothes on tonight when he goes out celebrating!!!  Oh to be that young all over again and know what I know now.  Would I do things any different?  More than likely not.  Wisdom is for the old.  I say go out and have a good night and celebrate well.  Of course legally he still cannot drink, not that has ever stopped any generation when they were young.  Glad to say that TOF and I have had a nice time raising our two lads, and have enjoyed each stage of their lives.  I always welcome each new adventure they embark on and am thankful that they have been able to live normal healthy lives.  You never know what is install for anyone so my motto has always been to live each day as it comes and make the most of it.  We have albums of photos of good old fashioned family time, something alot of kids just don't get these days. I love being a mum!!

This morning I took a trip down memory lane and went to a junior soccer match.  My gorgeous great nephew was in town(he lives out in the countryside - Tauwhare) to play soccer at Woodstock Primary.  Both my boys played soccer at this age and it is still such a fun thing to go to.  Kyden found a nice puddle of mud that he told me he went in 3 times!!  As you do when you are a six year old boy.

It was a closely fought match with both teams seeming to be pretty even on the skill of soccer.  To cap it all off Kyden got the player of the day trophy and certificate from his team.  Apart from him getting to proudly display the trophy for a week his mum gets to supply the half time oranges at next weeks game.  So glad the weather held off and it didn't rain.  The ground was pretty soggy under foot as it is every where up here.  We need at least  week for the ground to dry out before we get any more rain, but that isn't forecast to happen.

TOF got home from Rotorua on Thursday with "Gifts for the family" as he puts it.  I got tea bags and toiletries, Jak got snack size choccy bars.  He goes all out for us when he gets a night away with work and stays in a Hotel.  Spoiled that's what we are!!!  His ManFlu is almost gone but he says he feels like crap still.  Best thing is I think I have got his cold!!  Yay!!!  Nothing I cannot snuff out with plenty of water, fresh fruit, panadol and some early nights.  But I think we have a 50th party to go to tonight!  Maybe tomorrow night is the early one.

I found this rather gorgeous candle holder thingy the other day.  My plan is to have it sit on my outdoor table with my umbrella going through the middle.  It is quite big so it should look fabulous at night.  I string battery operated fairy lights in my umbrella but this will give some nice light lower down in the evening.  I am so hanging for summer when we can eat outdoors and have the Chiminea going.  Our BBQ lives on our deck and TOF does alot of cooking on it over summer.  Fingers crossed we actually get a summer this time round.

These place mats I scored also and they will look pretty snazzy on the outdoor table as well.

I was pretty tickled to find these two tea towels, as Clarice Cliff is an artist I admire.  I will probably never own any of his ceramics so tea towels depicting his work is good enough for me.  May even make a long a line skirt and stitch one on the front yet.  Still just an idea.

Well my weekend has been pleasant so far.  Planning on going to the Farmers Market in the morning and then off to a market in Hamilton East.  If the rain can hold off until late afternoon that would be greatly appreciated!!

My own Superman!!

TOF was away over night in Rotorua or Rodovegas as we like to call it.  He rang this morning before he had to go back to day 2 of his training course.  Still full of Manflu and not remotely interested in being at a course.  If he still had these PJ's I made him back in the day maybe his super power would kick in and he would kick the ManFlu.  "KAPOW!!"  "SHAZAM!!"

Guess I shall have to dose him up on some Panadol on his return and tuck him into bed.  Maybe I should get him this.

I think that was in my wedding vows!

Anyway, enough of Winter already.  Time for it to pack its Man Bag and head up North for a while.  I want Summer, well I will even settle for Spring, as long as all this rain goes away and stays away.

Multiple births on a SuesDay!!

You know how much I love my weekly SuesDay, well it was even better because more lambs were born out at Webberville.  Photos follow later on after I talk you all through the morning.
These are the Day of the Dead skulls, they are going to be for sale in Remains to be Scene, the shop I work in on Mondays.
We two Sues did a total of 6 op shops this morning.  I did most of my spending, and a modest amount it was too, in Habitat.  They have really good plants for sale that are grown by some lovely retired folk that usually have a photo and a bit of gardening advise so you know what you are buying and where to place it in your garden.  I love Spring flowers, so added this pot of $3 loveliness to the dafs I got the other day.  I threw a whole lot of sweet pea seeds into my garden box and every single seed has popped up.  Totally stoked I am, so I should get a great crop of fabulous old fashioned and perfumed flowers.

My next buy was this tall cane pot that I shall stash my knitting needles in.  I have borrowed this idea from a blog I follow, Op Shop Mama, so I hope she is flattered and doesn't mind.  That was only $2.  The lavender and purple tuelle, at 50 cents each I got at Red Cross.  Living in a house full of blokes, they tend to be a bit wasteful with soap.  It ends up in bits in a basket at the end of the bath.  Years ago I made bags that you put the scraps of soap in and that way you can use it all up, and have a loafer at the same time.  Great way to use ALL the soap not 3/4 of the cake.

My last purchase is this cute little doll filled with pot pouri, that has a sweet little wooden head and you hang it in your wardrobe.  First I thought she had a mono brow but on closer inspection her eyes are closed and it is her fab eyelashes.  The label reads "Liberty" hand made in England.

I admit I was some what side tracked today as I was keen to get back out to Sues place to meet the latest additions to Webberville.  Another set of triplets was born this morning.  So after shopping and a quick and tasty lunch I followed her back to hers.  Mind you she took me on a tour of the Te Awa car park before we got out of Hamilton!!

Get ready for oodles of photos that will make you go " Awe cute"!

I so would love to adopt the little black lamb, as I am rather partial to the black sheep in most families because that is my position most of the time!!  TOF is away for the night on a work thing.   Last time he had to go to a course at the end they all had to say what they got out of the course.  When it was his turn he said " a nice lunch".  Not the required answer but it amused some of the others.  It is just me and the Jak boy home.  We are thinking of Chicken soup and feta scones for dinner.  Best I get off and create this before it is too late.

Pet goat, pottery and a Parrot!

TOF was home from work today with the dreaded ManFlu.  I thought something was brewing as he has been decidedly grumpy of late and my crystal ball has not been coming up with any other cause for this other than he was coming down with the lurg!!  By lunch time I had quite frankly had enough of being surrounded by ManFlu so I headed out to Dawns place.  To my great excitement her letter box has been put up.  The pottery roses are on barbed wire wrapped around the stump with the enormous acorn letterbox perched on top.  Can you see her pet goat Biddy Munchkin in the background?  Total tosser standing on the roof to his hut.   But back to the letter box, ain't it just super duper!!
I wonder if the rural mail man was half as impressed as I was?  I bet the cows will love it when they are grazing in the paddock opposite.

There is no way I could have something like this in town.  It would either be vandalized or stolen!!

Not long after I took these photos the heavens opened up and it poured down.  When I got back in my car I saw that old Biddy had taken shelter in his hut and had his head poked out the door checking on the weather.

If you look closely you will note that old Biddy has been pooping on the roof of his own castle.  69 is the street number not some weird sexual reference to Biddy.  Just in case you were wondering!

As I drove down Dawns driveway she was outside pointing up into one of the trees outside her Studio.  Of course I hadn't the faintest idea what she was pointing at.  Turns out she had a visitor.

It was this bloody great big green parrot!!!

She was trying to lure it down with an assortment of grapes, sliced pear and some other healthy snacks.

Isn't it gorgeous??!!

Trust me, I took about six zillion photos of this beautiful bird but have managed to prune that down some what.  The plan was to get it to come down and she wants it to live in her studio.  Not sure how that will work out.  I suggested she put a call into SPCA and see if any one had a missing Parrot first, because it is obviously someones pet and they would have handed over a fare wad of cash for a bird like that.  Shall update you later on in the week when I find out what happened.
Today Dawn was busy making a whole lot of Peas in a Pod.  She talked me into having a play with some clay, even tho' I was quite content to watch her and chat.  I don't like to use her clay as this is her income so I made a smaller version of what she was doing but mine are baby peas.  Complete with ruffle bonnets, and dummies.  They are going to be my representation of my own boys so they will be glazed with white bonnets, pale pink skin and blue dummies ( pacifiers) with a green pod.  They have to dry out before I can do that so maybe next week. We were waiting for her kiln to cool down as she had just done the final firing and had some newbies in the kiln.  You have to wait until the temp drops to at least 200*, then she has to unload using thick welding type gloves.  Its really exciting as you never know if everything will have survived.  And you never know how things will look as the glaze is quite different when it has been  cooked.

This is looking into the kiln to the last shelf of goodies to be removed.  Rather magical as it was all coloured sheep, toadstools and trees. Pleased to say, nothing was broken so a successful cook up it was.  Her Day of the Dead skulls are to die for.  I haven't got a very good photo of them but when I do I shall share it.  The most awesome bright and pastel colours.  They are open at the back so you can put incense in them and the smoke wafts out the eye holes.  Apparently they are quite a good seller too so she intends on making a whole lot more.

You can see some of them in this photo in front of her Dr Seuss coloured clock that I personally think is fabulous!!!

The crowns on the heads she paints with a bronze colour and they look awesome.  My favourite is the one with the top hat.

If you like the look of Dawns Pottery she finally has a web site so go google her, www.uglybeautifulpottery.com

A flock of coloured sheep!!

Makes me wonder if any more lambs have been born out at Webberville.  Sue tells me Ram-a-lamb has gone to stay at a mates place while she swans off to Oz for a wedding this weekend.  She even packed him a weekend bag of his stuff.  Now that was a photo op if ever, and a dam funny blog post.  Bless his little woolie white coat.  I so would love him in my back yard if he would stay small forever.

Well it is SuesDay tomorrow and I am looking forward to hitting the oppies with a bit more cash than I had last week.  So I will blog about the success or the failure probably tomorrow.

Took a trip out to Webberville I did!!

Sue comes in to town every Wednesday so I decided it was about time I took a trip out to her place.  It has been a while, due to weather, work, when I was working, and her being an Islander for 10 days.  We had one of those good old fashioned Waikato Fogs this morning that I hoped would lift before lunch time.

Being on a country road I was able to stop every so often and take photos out the front window of my car.  Fog makes everything look slightly magical, almost expected some medieval horsemen to come riding through the fog in full battle cry!!  Now that would have been way too cool.

Apart from wanting to catch up with Sue in her natural habitat there was a gorgeous wee boy to meet.

And how gorgeous he is!!  Spent the night living inside as he is being bottle fed.  His mother had triplets and she hasn't been feeding him, so Midwife Webber to the rescue and he is a happy and healthy wee bloke.

Ram-a-lamb is his name at the moment and he is almost like a puppy because he comes when he is called.  I so want him.  Not sure how that would go with TOF tho'.

I have not bottle fed a lamb since I was a very young girl.  Relatives of mine farmed out Raglan way and gave us a lamb for a pet.  As a kid I was allowed all sorts of animals in town, my parents were pretty relaxed about that sort of stuff.  Maybe that's why I have my menagerie in town.  I would so love a plot of land so I could have more animals.  I told TOF I would want a barn so they could all go inside for the night to sleep.  He just rolled his eyes at me!!

Anyway, the fog did lift and we ended up with a beautiful Spring day, that just begged to be photographed.  So get a cuppa or something stronger if you want because you are about to be bombarded with photos!!
